Hmong Diaspora Exhibit: Opening Reception – Join the La Crosse Public Library in presenting the opening reception for Hmong Diaspora: A Spotlight Collection, featuring titles by Hmong authors across multiple genres. Come by the library on Sunday, January 22nd at 1:00 pm to celebrate with performances by HCCA’s youth Hmong dance group. Hmong snacks and light refreshments will be provided. The exhibit will be on display from January 22 to February 28.

Music Merch Market at the Warehouse – Swing by the Warehouse this weekend for their Music Merch Market featuring band merchandise for 15 to 20 bands all in one place. The market is open on both floors of the Warehouse from 12:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, and 12:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 22. Along with shopping, you can chat with the bands, grab a drink from the craft soda bar, play some pool or pinball, and check out vintage VPX clothing.

Friday 1/20

Greedy Volunteers at Alpine Inn – Make the trip to Alpine Inn on Friday night to see the Greedy Volunteers at 7:00 pm. There will be great music, drinks, and food including a Friday fish fry. There is no cover for this free show!

Current Pump House Regional Arts Center Exhibition – Join the Pump House Regional Arts Center in supporting their currently featured exhibition, which will be on display from January 11- February 25, 2023. The exhibition features the works of Lynda Wallis in Trust Yourself to Feel Exactly What You’re Feeling, Jean Weiner in Dance of Light, and K. Daphnae Koop in Elevating the Ordinary. The Artist Reception is on February 3, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Saturday 1/21

Magical Midway of Fun Matinee Show – Returning to the Pump House Regional Arts Center on Saturday, January 21 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, bring out the family for The Magical Midway of Fun. Light juggling, puppetry and magic await those who have tickets for the Saturday show!

Flibbertijibbet at Popcorn Tavern – Support local music at the Popcorn Tavern! Local favorite Flibbertijibbet will be playing Saturday night at 10:00 pm. Come by for a night of live original Rock, Americana, Jam, and Folk music.

Sunday 1/22

La Crosse Gurls Drag Brunch at Java Vino – Get your tickets soon for the Coulee Region’s best Drag Brunch featuring the La Crosse Gurls! The brunch will be from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday at Java Vino in La Crosse.

Don D. Harvey Live at Elmaro Vineyards – Make the short trip to Elmaro Vineyards in Trempealeau to sip some excellent local wines and listen to acoustic musician Don D. Harvey perform live on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Audiences can look forward to folk, rock, bluegrass and country blues, for an afternoon of easy listening at the vineyard.

Thursday 1/26

Andy’s Alpine Jam – Join your host Andy Hughes at the Alpine Inn every Thursday night in January for Andy’s Alpine Jam presented by Broken Wrist Records. The event will run from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and local musicians are welcome to join this Nashville style open mic. If you’re not interested in getting up on stage, come for the drinks, food, and entertainment!

SOUP at the Rivoli – Take time to come to the next La Crosse SOUP event! Held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Rivoli Theatre, this event includes a public dinner, platform for connection, and the opportunity to support creative people in La Crosse. There will be food and drinks, a program, and creative pitches, before a winner is chosen at the end of the night. Stick around after the event for a free movie showing.

Coming Up (1/27 – 2/2)

2023 La Crosse Winter Roots Festival – La Crosse Winter Roots Festival is an invitation to celebrate local and regional music, cuisine, artists, makers, brewers, and distillers from the greater La Crosse, Wisconsin. Taking place Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 12:00 pm, this event will be held at the Riverside Ballroom at the La Crosse Center.

Artaria String Quartet: Tian, Mendelssohn, Bartok – Join the Cappella Performing Arts Center for their first show of the year on January 27, featuring Minnesota’s foremost teaching and performing string quartet, Artaria String Quartet. From 7:30pm to 11:00pm, audience members can expect refined and thoughtful playing and confident interpretations from an exceptional ensemble.

La Crosse Community Theatre Presents The Vagina Monologues – After a successful first season, the La Crosse Community Theatre is bringing back The Vagina Monologues for a second time. The play will show from February 17 through the 26, with performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and over the weekends. Purchase your tickets now!

Deece Productions Presents Petty Comes Alive at the La Crosse Center – Presented by Deece Productions, enjoy a night of the late Tom Petty come alive at the La Crosse Center. The show is on April 1, but tickets are expected to go fast, so purchase your tickets soon.

24th Annual “Masquerade” Winter Ball – Don’t miss Pearl Street Brewery’s 24th Annual Masquerade Winter Ball on Saturday, February 18th! The festivities run from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and include special releases of new, one-off beers, wine spritzers, sparkling wines, and hard cider mixers along with a lineup of award-winning Pearl Street Brewery beers. Food will be available for purchase and Porky’s Groove Machine, Nicholas David and Mark Joseph & The American Soul will be providing live entertainment.

Journey Through Motherhood: Celebrating All Phases and Stages – Celebrate motherhood with The Motherhood Collective and their founder, Emily Sustar by joining them February 3rd and 4th for a retreat at the Franscian Spirituality Center. The event will include mindfulness practices, yoga, healing rituals, art, meditation, discussion, fresh food, plus time to connect and hold space as a community.

On the Road (1/20 – 1/26)

Gregg Hall and the Wrecking Ball at Blackhawk – Take a short road trip to Prairie du Chien for a free show by Gregg Hall and the Wrecking Ball at The Blackhawk. The show starts at 9:00 pm on Friday night and runs until midnight.
