2023 La Crosse Winter Roots Festival – La Crosse Winter Roots Festival is an invitation to celebrate local and regional music, cuisine, artists, makers, brewers, and distillers from the greater La Crosse, Wisconsin. Taking place Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 12:00 pm, the main event will be held at the Riverside Ballroom at the La Crosse Center, including the epic Artist Market. There will also be a pre-party Friday Night Winter Roots Ice Breaker at The Main kicking off at 6:00 pm, $5 at the door.

Frozen River Film Festival – Make a short trip across the Mississippi River to attend the annual Frozen River Film Festival in Winona, Minnesota. The festival seeks to engage, educate, and activate the community in the world through the art of documentary filmmaking. From February 5th-12th, Festival goers can look forward to watching a variety of films and taking part in various workshops where they can speak directly to the filmmakers. Friday Night Winter Roots “Ice Breaker” at The Main – Pre-game the La Crosse Winter Roots Festival at the pre-party event on Friday night at The Main. The special Friday Night Winter Roots “ Ice Breaker” event will feature live entertainment by Nobody’s Dope and special variations of the Barbegazi Black Lager. Purchase a Saturday Early Entry ticket or pay $5 at the door for entry.
Aaron Lee Kaplan & Dr Z. and Deeper Roots at Popcorn Tavern – Start your Friday night off with two great Blues bands at the Popcorn Tavern starting at 10:00 pm. Come see Aaron Lee Kaplan and Dr. Z and Deeper Roots for a great evening of live music by some well respected blues bands from the Midwest.

Ariane Lydon & Friends ‘In The Spirit of Love’ Concert – The Pump House Regional Arts Center presents Ariane Lydon and Friends on Saturday, February 11 at 7:30 pm. The show will feature their ‘In the Spirit of Love’ concert. The show will be an experience, as Lydon fluently delivers songs in 3 languages along with music featuring guitars, keyboard, harp, and percussion.

Post Winter Roots Fest Bloody Mary Set w/ members of Chicken Wire Empire – After the Friday pre-party, and the main event on Saturday, keep the Winter Roots Festival party rolling all weekend by joining the folks at Alpine Inn for a special live show on Sunday. Starting at noon, enjoy the music of bluegrass duo Jordan and Ernie of Chicken Wire Empire and drink specials including $5 La Crosse Distilling Co. Bloody Marys.

Coming Up (2/17 – 2/23)

Big Turn Music Fest – Hit the road to Red Wing, Minnesota for the 2 day, city wide festival, Big Turn Music Fest. Top musicians from the region will be playing all weekend on Friday, February 17th and Saturday the 18th. That means 2 days of unique sounds, 20+ venues, and 200+ bands, purchase your tickets soon!
24th Annual “Masquerade” Winter Ball – Don’t miss Pearl Street Brewery’s 24th Annual Masquerade Winter Ball on Saturday, February 18th! The festivities run from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and include special releases of new, one-off beers, wine spritzers, sparkling wines, and hard cider mixers along with a lineup of award-winning Pearl Street Brewery beers. Food will be available for purchase and Porky’s Groove Machine, Nicholas David and Mark Joseph & The American Soul will be providing live entertainment.
The Vagina Monologues – The La Crosse Community Theatre is welcoming back The Vagina Monologues after a successful first run last season. The Black Box show will run from February 17th to February 26th, with shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and on Sunday afternoons. Both witty and irreverent and compassionate and wise, audiences are in for a wonderfully wild and eye-opening performance.
A Night with an Adventurer – Be encouraged and inspired by the Pump House Regional Arts Center’s event, A Night with an Adventurer, featuring Climbing Mt. Everest: Dr. Julio Bird. The event is free to the public, but donations are welcomed and will go towards the chosen cause of the evening’s “adventurer.”
