Grandad Bluff  | 3020 Grandad Bluff Road, La Crosse

Grandad Bluff offers one of the most breathtaking views in the La Crosse area, overlooking the city, the Mississippi River, and the Minnesota bluffs. Being free to visit and easy to access, it’s a perfect spot for a scenic picnic, short hike, or simply soaking in the beauty of the Driftless Region.

 

Riverside Park | 100 State Street, La Crosse

Riverside Park is a scenic park downtown, offering plenty of activities to do! Walk the riverwalk, watch the boats, or relax on the green space. Bonus: it’s extra beautiful at sunset!

 

Lower Hixon Forest Trails | 2600 Old Quarry Road, La Crosse 

These wooded trails provide a peaceful escape from the city, with gentle terrain suitable for families and beginner hikers. Wildlife sightings and seasonal wildflowers make this a great spot for nature walks!

 

Upper Hixon Forest Trails | 800 Milson Court, La Crosse

A favorite for more adventurous hikers and mountain bikers, Upper Hixon offers challenging trails and scenic overlooks. It’s a great place to explore the bluffs and take in views of the Driftless Region.

 

Goose Island County Park | W6488 County Road G I, Stoddard

Located just south of La Crosse, Goose Island offers nature trails, bird watching, and access to the Mississippi River. The park is perfect for exploring backwaters, spotting wildlife, and enjoying a quiet afternoon outdoors.

Moon Tunes | Riverside Park

Held weekly on Thursday nights during the summer in Riverside Park, Moon Tunes brings live music to the riverfront bandshell. Bring a blanket or some chairs and enjoy a relaxing evening of music.

 

Downtown Artspire Festival | Riverside Park

Artspire is a free annual summer festival celebrating all forms of art with performances, interactive activities, and local vendors. Head to the park on Saturday, June 14, for a fun and colorful way to engage with La Crosse’s creative community! 

 

Dash Park | 200 Main Street, Onalaska

Located across the river in Onalaska, Dash Park hosts concerts on Tuesday nights and other community events throughout the summer. The open plaza is a great place for kids to play while parents relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
