One of the last bastions of being a respected cook is breaking the code of bread. It’s quite an act of love, making bread, whether it’s a treat yourself situation or your hosting and you wanna blow people away, bread is a tedious, messy and time consuming endeavor.  I have done it a couple of times and unlike cooking, baking is way more of a science, and winging it does not result in flight.

I heard of a Bucket of Bread through Sabadash and have been meaning to get my hands on some for a while. The beauty of the bucket is, you don’t have to measure anything but water (3 cups), toss it in the bucket and proof it. (aka let it hang out at room temp for a few hours or speed it up by tossing the whole affair into the oven with just the oven light on for 5-10 minutes.)

After that, you got yourself a blank yet rich canvas to make whatever bread, doughnut, pizza, naan, or dessert thing you want. The ingredients are organic and milled in Wisconsin. The owner Chris is a huge believer in his products and also humanity. He donates a percentage of profits to charity and also has an option on his website to buy a bucket to be donated to the Hunger Task Force.

His also has numerous recipes to jazz up the canvas. I think being able to do your own thing with something that is typically harder to achieve makes me a happy boi.

With this bucket, it came in handy as I was hosting and made an okay butternut curry. With the naan vehicle it upped the fun and gave some texture variance to the meal. I made a bunch of savory mixes for the naan bread and then did a sweet one to finish. I Just added wee pinches of flavors I typically like.

This veteran owned charitable business is right here in our own awesome town of La Crosse, that being said if you aren’t around you can order off his site from anywhere. I would recommend the Bucket if you have wanted an easy alternative to bread making. I am buying another to do some focaccia and pizza! Get to baking yall!
