La Crosse Area Swimming Guide

Summer’s here and that means relaxing and refreshing and recreating on or near the WATER!  Lucky for us, the La Crosse area has so many options: from beaches, to splash pads, to pools – below is your complete guide to summer swimming in the La Crosse Area.

Please note: This guide is for public swimming options. Membership-based swimming centers and organizations are not listed.

LA CROSSE

 

Erickson Pool

  • Location: 2412 Losey Boulevard South, La Crosse
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday – Thursday, 1 pm – 7 pm | Friday – Sunday, 1 pm – 7 pm
  • Senior Open Swim: Monday – Thursday, 7 pm – 8 pm
  • Admission: Ages 3 and up, $5/person. | 2 and under, Free.
  • Note: The pool operates from June 1 to August 16, 2026. The pool will close at 5:00 pm on July 4th.

 

Veterans Memorial Pool

  • Location: 1901 Campbell Rd, La Crosse
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday – Thursday, 1 pm – 5 pm | Friday – Sunday, 1 pm – 7 pm
  • Lap Swim: Monday – Thursday, 11 am – 12:45 pm
  • Admission: Ages 3 and up, $5/person |  2 and under, Free.
  • Note: The pool operates from June 1 to August 16, 2026. The pool will close at 5:00 pm on July 4th.

 

La Crosse Pool Memberships are available for 2026 and can be purchased online:

  • Family Memberships ($210 / $140 for City of La Crosse Resident with Discount)
  • Single Memberships ($105 / $70 for City of La Crosse Resident with Discount)

 

 


 

ONALASKA

 

Onalaska Aquatic Center

  • Location: 250 Riders Club Road, Onalaska
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday-Friday, 12 pm – 4:30 pm | Wednesday, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm | Saturday 12 pm – 6 pm, Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm
  • Family Swim: Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
  • Adult Lap Swim: Weekdays from 11 am – 11:45 am
  • Admission: Daytime/Weekend Open Swim: $4 | Night Swim: $2 | Lap Swim: $2
  • Note: The pool is scheduled to open on June 6th, 2026. Floaties are only allowed during Family Night Swim. Coast guard approved life jackets are allowed at any time. 
  • Memberships are available for 2026 and can be purchased online: Family – $130 | Single – $55 | Senior (65+) – $25

 


 

LA CRESCENT

La Crescent Aquatic Center

  • Location: 608 S 7th St, La Crescent
  • Open Swim Hours: Daily, 1 pm – 5 pm | Sunday – Thursday, 6 pm – 8 pm
  • Adult Lap Swim: Monday – Friday, 6 am – 8 am | Monday – Sunday, 5 pm – 6 pm | Monday – Thursday, 8 pm – 9 pm
  • Admission: $3 – resident, $6 – non-resident
  • Note: The pool is scheduled to open on May 23rd and close on August 16th. Hours will be adjusted for the first few weeks upon opening; see their website for details.
  • Memberships are available: Family – $135 ($185, non-resident) | Single – $65 ($95, non-resident)

 


 

HOLMEN

Holmen Aquatic Center

  • Location: 315 Anderson Street, Holmen
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday – Friday, 12 pm – 5:50 pm | Saturday, 12 pm – 7 pm | Sunday, 12 pm – 5 pm
  • Family Night: Sundays, 5 pm – 7 pm. During family night, the pool will allow floats and water toys subject to safety standards.
  • Adult Lap Swim: Monday – Thursday, 8 pm – 9 pm
  • Admission: 3 and under, $1 | Ages 4 – 64, $4 | Seniors (65+), Free (Non resident – $2) | Monday – Friday after 4 pm: $2
  • Note: The pool operates from June 6, 2026 through August 16, 2026. The pool hours for July 4th will be 12 pm – 4 pm. The pool hours for August 15th will be 1 pm – 5 pm.
  • Memberships are available and can be purchased at the pool: Family $135 | Individual $55 | Seniors (65+) free

WEST SALEM

West Salem Swarthout Pool

  • Location: 405 E Hamlin St, West Salem
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday – Friday, 1:30 pm – 5 pm | Saturday – Sunday, 1:30 pm – 5 pm
  • Adult Lap Swim: Monday – Friday, 12:45 pm – 1:30 pm
  • Admission: Wading Pool, $1 ($2 non-resident), Through 8th Grade, $2 ($3 non-resident), High School/Adult, $3 ($4 non-resident)
  • Memberships are available and can be purchased at the pool: Household – $65 ($100 non-resident) | Single – High School/Adult – $50 ($65 non-resident) | Single – Through 8th Grade – $35 ($50 non-resident)

 


 

SPARTA

Sparta Family Aquatic Center

  • Location: 725 Pine St, Sparta
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday – Friday, 12:30 pm – 4 pm, 6 pm – 8 pm | Saturday – Sunday, 1 pm – 5 pm
  • Family Float: Wednesdays, 6 pm – 8 pm
  • Lap Swim: Monday – Friday, 6 am – 8 am
  • Admission: $3 – Youth and Seniors (65+), $5 – Adults, 3 and under – Free
  • Note: The pool is scheduled to open on June 13th, 2026.
  • Memberships are available and must be purchased at the Sparta Parks & Recreation Office or online before June 2nd: Individual child $50 ($87.50 non-resident) | Individual adult $60 ($105 non-resident) | Family $120 ($210 non-resident)

 


 

TREMPEALEAU

Trempealeau Pool

  • Location: 23924 4th Street, Trempealeau
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday – Sunday, 1 pm – 6 pm
  • Adult Lap Swim: Monday – Friday, 7 am – 7:45 am | Monday – Sunday, 12 pm – 12:45 pm
  • Admission: Children under 2, free | Ages 2 – 59, $3 ($10 non-resident) | Ages 60+, free
  • Note: Water aerobics and exercise classes are offered; see the website for details!
  • Memberships are available: Family – $90 ($230 non-resident) | Single – $35 ($175 non-resident)

 


 

WINONA

Bob Welch Aquatic Center

  • Location: 780 W 4th Street, Winona
  • Open Swim Hours: Monday – Thursday, 12:30 pm – 6 pm | Friday, 12:30 pm – 7 pm |  Saturday, 12 pm – 7 pm | Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm
  • Admission: 4 and under – FREE, $5 – youth, $6 – adults
  • Note: The pool is scheduled to open on June 6th, 2026, and will close on August 23, 2026.
  • Memberships and punch cards are available and may be purchased online or in person at the BWAC or Parks and Recreation Office: Household/Family – $165 | Individual – $55 | Digital Punch Card – $42/10 punches

  • Amenities include (but not limited to): Fishing access, green space, indoor bathrooms, open air shelter, off street parking
  • Note: There are no lifeguards on duty at Black River Beach.

 

Pettibone Beach

  • Location: 374 South Pettibone Drive, La Crosse
  • Amenities include (but not limited to): Green space, indoor bathrooms, off street parking, open air shelter, sand beach, volleyball court
  • Note: There are no lifeguards on duty at Pettibone Beach.

Neshonoc Swarthout Beach

  • Location: W3373 State Road 16, West Salem
  • Amenities include (but not limited to): Parking, restrooms, volleyball, playground area
  • Note: There are no lifeguards on duty at Neshonoc Swarthout Beach.

SPLASH PADS

LA CROSSE

All three splash pads listed below are generally open from Memorial Day to Labor Day (Weather pending). Open 9 am – 8 pm.

 

Copeland Park

  • Location: 1130 Copeland Park Dr, La Crosse
  • Note: The Splash Pad is recently renovated and open to the public along with other amenities such as a playground, open air shelter, restrooms, and more. Copeland Splash Pad has ground sprays and splash structures.
  • How to turn on: There is a button on one of the structures.

Springbrook Park

    • Location: 3519 Springbrook Way, La Crosse
    • Note: Springbrook Splash Pad has ground spray only. The park has other amenities such as an open air shelter, green space, and playground.
    • How to turn on: There is a button on ground in middle of splash pad.

 

Poage Park

  • Location: 501 Hood Street, La Crosse
  • Note: Poage Splash Pad has ground spray only. The park has other amenities such as an open air shelter and playground.
  • How to turn on: There is a button on ground in middle of splash pad.

 


 

ONALASKA

Dash Park

  • Location: 200 Main Street, Onalaska
  • Note: Grand opening is Tuesday, June 9th at 1 pm. After opening day, the splash pad will be open daily from 10 am – 8 pm.
  • How to turn on: To activate the water flow, press the button near the silver pedestal (located near the edge of the splash pad)
