All Weekend

Syttende Mai – A Norwegian Folk Festival – Make a short drive to Westby this weekend to celebrate the city’s Norwegian heritage at Syttende Mai, a Norwegian Folk Festival! The festival commemorates Norway’s Constitution Day and features traditional activities like rosemaling, woodcarving, Hardanger fiddle making, and needle work and weaving. There will also be traditional Norwegian foods such as rommegrot (cream pudding), lefapolsa, sandbakkels, strul, and lefsa for all to try. Other events include the 2022 Medallion Hunt, Troll Hunt, art contests and fairs, a parade, and live music.

Friday

Live Ska Bands at The Warehouse – Start your Friday night off at The Warehouse for a Friday the 13th Ska Party. The live music starts at 6:30pm sharp and the featured act is Austin, Texas based ska band Hans Gruber & The Die Hards. Other ska bands include Courtesy of Tim and Meskales, and you can also see Boss’ Daughter, a punk rock band from Reno, Nevada. Tickets are $10 ahead of time and $13 dollars at the door. Proof of vaccination cards are required for entrance.

Friday Night Stand-Up with Michael Palascak and Brady Gregurich – Head back to The Main downtown for more comedy! Friday night stand-up this weekend features Michael Palascak and Brady Gregurich. Michael Palascak is a well-known stand-up comedian who was most recently named the 2018 Stand-up of the Year by the Late Nite Last Week podcast for his set on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He’s also made appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Conan, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Letterman, Comedy Central’s Half Hour, and more.

Next to Normal – Winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, see a talented La Crosse Community Theatre cast present its last weekend of its rendition of Next to Normal. Peer into the lives of the Goodmans, a seemingly typical American family with more going on than meets the eye. The show focuses on mental health and presents an unflinching and moving look at a suburban American family struggling with the effects of mental illness.

Saturday 

Feel the Rhythm: Spring Seasonal Saturday – Stop in to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum on May 14th for the second upcoming Seasonal Saturday of 2022. Inspired by MMAM’s exhibition, Sonja Peterson: What the Trade Winds Brought, visitors can take part in special activities based on the theme “Feel the Rhythm.” The event’s one dollar admission fee gives you access to eleven different activities including an artist demonstration by Sonja Peterson, live music from various artists, art-making activities and more!

Sunday

Beer and Wine Tasting at Horstmann Homestead – Have a relaxing Sunday afternoon at Horstmann Homestead at their Sunday Beer and Wine tasting event. Sample some great wines from DNA Vintners and craft beers from Sand Creek Brewing Co. starting at 1:00pm. The event also features The Thursday Night Ladies for a Stepping out in Pink fundraiser.

Artspire – La Crosse’s largest, free arts celebration in Downtown La Crosse, Artspire is back again this summer with a full weekend of visual arts, performing arts, dance, theater, literary arts and storytelling, interactive arts, and demonstration arts. Presented and funded by the Pump House Regional Arts Center, Artspire is a free community event that fosters meaningful arts experiences within our diverse community. Situated in La Crosse’s Arts District near the Pump House Regional Arts Center, the celebration runs June 10-11, 2022.
