Friday

Pump House Artist Reception – Join the Pump House Regional Arts Center in welcoming and celebrating their next group of exhibiting artists at the Artist Reception on Friday from 5pm to 7pm. The exhibition features a variety of artists and works of art, including The Woods are Lovely, Dark and Deep by Julia Scheckel in the Front Gallery, Iowa Combines by Russ Nordman in the Balcony Gallery, Filters and Signals by Nicolas Darcourt, Roger Boulay, and Lois Peterson in the Kader Gallery. The gallery exhibition will be on display at the Pump House from July 20th to September 10th.

First Friday Downtown Art Walk – Held at various locations in downtown La Crosse on the first Friday of every month, come down for this month’s First Friday Downtown Art Walk! Artists, exhibitions, and new collections can be found at River City Gallery, Pump House Regional Art Center, by James Galleries, Larson’s General, Grounded Patio Café, The Root Note, Turtle Stack Brewery and Vision of Light Stained Glass from 4pm to 7pm. You can spend the evening visiting the art galleries and stops, enjoying music and live demonstrations, and refreshments to kick off your Friday night. Download or pick up your map guide here, and get marked at each location to register for great art gifts, plus you can also check out what is happening at each Art Walk location. Event attendees can also get a first look at the finished works from the Downtown Paint Around, where artists painted images of Downtown La Crosse and the International Gardens.

Avenue Q – Head to the Lyche Theatre at 7:30 pm on Friday to catch the La Crosse Community Theatre’s rendition of Avenue Q. The puppet-filled comedy musical follows a group of twenty-somethings seeking their purpose in big-city life. Winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is filled with humor and a catchy score, making it a favorite of audiences everywhere. Get your tickets now!

Shakespeare in the Park with the Summit Players Theatre – Shakespeare in the State Parks has been traveling across Wisconsin all summer for a unique outdoor workshop and performance, and they will be coming to Perrot State Park in Trempealeau this Saturday. Presented by the Summit Players Theatre, audience members can join the cast for a stripped-down, fast-paced version of Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing. The show starts at 7pm, but audiences can feel free to join the Summit Players Theatre at 5:30pm prior to the performance for a fun, educational workshop on Shakespearean history, language, and characters from the play. The event is recommended for everyone ages 8 and up, and you are encouraged to bring a blanket or a lawn chair.

Tommy Prine at Leo and Leona’s – On Monday, September 5th head to Leo and Leona’s to see singer-songwriter Tommy Prine, son of the late legendary multi Grammy award-winning artist, John Prine. Tommy Prine is a Nashville-native, singer-songwriter, and performer whose distinct sound comes from his unique finger-picking style combined with his soul-stirring songwriting. The artist is returning to the Driftless Region for a special performance, so be sure to grab your tickets before the show sells out.

Mid West Music Fest 2022 La Crosse – Mid West Music Fest is coming to La Crosse this September for a weekend of music, entertainment and the arts! Featuring regional artists for over 13 years, the festival promotes music and art of all genres and mediums and supports the connection of the community to our local music and art scenes throughout the area. This special Driftless region festival was held earlier this year in Winona, and the second festival is approaching quickly. Fourth Fridays – The La Crosse Area Chamber is launching a new summer event in Riverside Park, Fourth Fridays. Occurring every fourth Friday of each month, you can head to Riverside Park for vendors, arts and crafts, music, and fun. The event is family-friendly and free for all ages to attend from 3 pm to 7 pm.
