Art Open House Fun | UWL Lowe Center for the Arts

The UW-La Crosse Art Department hosts its 2025 Open House on Thursday, October 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. in various locations in the Truman T. Lowe Center for the Arts.
The Open House is an opportunity for both campus and community members to get their hands dirty while learning about the UWL Art Department. This event offers opportunities to see student artwork, view and participate in technical demonstrations, meet current students and faculty members, and learn about the studio areas within the UWL Art Department.
During the Open House visitors can tour various UWL studios including design, print media, drawing, sculpture, painting, art education, ceramics, art history, and metalsmithing. Various student works will also be for sale at this event.
“We love hosting the Open House, it’s so fun!” Says Professor Kate Hawkes. “We open our doors to community members of all ages, families, students, faculty and staff, and anyone curious about art. Everyone is welcome.” Hawkes and the rest of the art faculty at UWL invite all to join in their studios as they demonstrate creative techniques and engage in hands on activities, including wood-fire ceramics, button making, watercolour meditation, temporary tattoos, hot metal casting, shadow puppets, and more. Visitors are welcome to pop in during any point in the event and travel between studios throughout the evening.
During the Open House, the UWL Art Gallery, also within the Lowe Center for the Arts, will be open to visitors and is exhibiting “Meditations on Trees and Stones” – new work by Professor Jennifer Williams.
The Lowe Center for the Arts is currently adjacent to a major construction project for a new parking ramp. Visit uwlax.edu/vpa/parking for more information about parking. This event is free and open to the public.
