G.E.T. Fresh! | La Crosse Public Library

This event is open to all, with a focus on our Black and Brown families in our community. On a first-come, first-served basis (no reservation needed), G.E.T. Fresh! provides a backpack filled with school supplies for approximately 200 students of all ages. Hairstylists—including those with experience braiding and working with waves, curls, coils, and ringlets—will be available for students wanting a fresh look for the 2026/2027 school year!

• When: Saturday, August 15th, 2026, | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (Sunday, August 16th, 2026, | voucher day – continuation of hair services not completed from Saturday | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
• Where: La Crosse Main Branch Library (800 Main Street)
• Lunch: Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration JEDI Team (Justice, Equity,
Diversity, Inclusion, and Immigration)

We are deeply grateful to the many stylists and braiders who give their time, talent, and energy to help our youth glow with confidence. While G.E.T. stands for Getting Everyone Together, our mission goes far deeper than a haircut or a backpack. We are building a foundation of community, camaraderie, and confidence. By connecting families to healthcare and vital resources, G.E.T. Fresh! brings Planned Parenthood’s “Care No Matter What” motto directly into the neighborhood.

• Arts: 1 Box of Crayons, Colored Pencils & Markers
• Writing: 4 Pencils, 1 Pencil Sharpener, & 1 Eraser
• Paper: 2 Notebooks, 2 Composition Books, & 1 Primary Journal
• Organization: 1 Pencil Box & 4 Folders
• Essentials: 2 Glue Sticks & 1 Ruler (12-inch)

Middle & High Schoolers
• Writing: 4 Pencils, 1 Pencil Sharpener, 1 Eraser, Dry Erase Markers, & 2
Highlighters
• Paper: 3 Notebooks & 1 Package of Loose-Leaf Paper
• Arts: 1 Box of Crayons, Colored Pencils & Markers
• Organization: 4 Folders
• Essentials: Combination Lock & 1 Ruler (12-inch)
