Symphony Orchestra feat. H.S. Honor Orchestra | UWL Student Union

October 18 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Free

Join us for a powerful evening as the UWL Orchestra & Honor Orchestra present a concert in partnership with the Violins of Hope Wisconsin initiative. Central to the program is David Avshalomov’s “Elegy”, a moving work for strings composed in memory of Leonard Bernstein—a slow, soulful tribute blending lyrical depth and quiet intensity.

The inclusion of the Violins of Hope-Wisconsin project brings an added dimension of remembrance and resilience. A number of instruments from the collection will be on display at the concert venue. These restored instruments, once played by Jewish musicians and others during the Holocaust, carry with them stories of survival, loss, and enduring hope.

Together, the concert offers not just musical excellence, but a moment to reflect on history through sound—honoring lives lost, celebrating the persistence of human spirit, and inspiring connection across generations. Be a part of this occasion of memory, empathy, and beauty.

Free & open to the public.
