Ukrainian Eggs – Beginner’s Class | Holmen Area Community Center

Holmen Area Community Center is offering an art class creating colorful and unique Ukrainian eggs.

The class will be taught by Betsy Midthun, artist and HACC Board member, who was first introduced to this technique in the 1980’s. In 2022, she renewed her interest in this special craft due to the war in Ukraine. Utilizing the traditional wax-dye technique, the class will teach beginners how to create a special egg decorated with symbolic colors and designs. Tools will be provided and include a beeswax cube, a candle flame, special tools, dyes and fresh, raw eggs. Betsy will review the history of this centuries-old art form and lead the class through the process.

Children ten and up must be accompanied by an adult.
