La Crosse’s The Lake Effect Release Debut 3-song EP

A collaboration from Stacy Hanson (Red Sky Warning) and Andy Hughes (TUGG)

Local musicians Stacy Hanson of Red Sky Warning and Andy Hughes of the reggae band TUGG have joined to form The Lake Effect. Now combined, they are quickly becoming one of the Driftless areas “must-see” groups touring extensively in the region. Part Dispatch, part Jamestown Revival, part dueling one-man band, The Lake Effect are completely unique to their previous musical endeavors.

Built on a bed of great songs, harmonies, and an infectious beat, what sets Hanson & Hughes apart from their contemporaries is their effortless chemistry; likely built from a decade-plus friendship and combined, 40 years of touring and performing.

Additionally, In 2021, Hanson and Hughes founded Broken Wrist Records as an entity to promote, book, and collaboratively manage creative endeavors alongside artists they have mutual respect for and would like to pursue creative projects and partnerships.

You can catch Tommy Prine, a Broken Wrist Records matinee production on September 5th featuring the youngest son of the late legendary multi-Grammy award-winning artist, John Prine. His songs pull inspiration from childhood adventures in the creek with his big brother, to losing his father at the beginning of the pandemic, falling in love, and everything in between. The special matinee tickets taking place at Leo and Leona’s are available here.

A 3-song effort, The Lake Effect 3P. Like the live shows, the recording is built on the unique voice created by the blending harmonies of Hanson & Hughes.
