Irishfest, a three-day celebration of Irish culture, is returning to La Crosse this year from August 9th to 11th. Whether you’re a seasoned festival-goer or a first-timer, there’s something for everyone. Here are 5 things to know about Irishfest.

What to Expect

Prepare to be immersed in a whirlwind of Irish sights, sounds, and flavors!

  • Music & Cultural Delights: Immerse yourself in the sounds and traditions of Ireland with multiple stages of live music, ranging from traditional tunes to Celtic rock. Explore the Cultural and Arts Tents for captivating storytelling, workshops, and even a chance to learn some Irish dance steps. For a bit of friendly competition, cheer on the kilt race or tug-of-war participants!

  • Shop ’til You Drop: The Irish Market is a treasure trove of authentic Irish goods. Browse through unique clothing, jewelry, and souvenirs, or find a tasty treat to enjoy. It’s the perfect place to pick up a special gift or a reminder of your Irishfest experience.

  • Family Fun for All: Irishfest welcomes families with open arms. Engaging activities like face painting and games will keep kids occupied, while adults can join in the merriment or simply relax and enjoy the festivities.

How to Get There

Irishfest takes place at the familiar southside Oktoberfest grounds (1 Oktoberfest Strasse), but parking can fill up fast. If you’re not a VIP pass holder, don’t worry! La Crosse offers plenty of street parking and nearby ramps within walking distance. Accessible parking is also available for those who need it.

How to Get Tickets

  • Online: Advance tickets can be purchased on the Irishfest La Crosse website. A 3-day pass is $25, and a single-day pass is $15.
  • At the gate: One-day tickets will be available at the gate for $20.
  • Hy-Vee Stores: Tickets are also available at Hy-Vee stores in La Crosse and Winona from July 1st to August 9th.
  • Bonus: Kids 17 and under get in free!

What to Bring

Remember to pack sunscreen, a hat, and a reusable water bottle to stay cool and hydrated in the August sun. Bring a blanket or chair (though seating is available) for seating and some cash (or cards!) for food, drinks, and souvenirs.

Embrace the Craic

At its heart, Irishfest is about community and “craic” — the Irish word for fun, enjoyment, and good times. Embrace the friendly atmosphere, strike up conversations with fellow festival-goers, and join in the merriment. You’ll quickly discover why this event is a beloved summer tradition.

Mark your calendars and get ready to experience the vibrant energy of Irishfest. With its blend of music, culture, shopping, and family fun, this three-day celebration promises an unforgettable Irish experience right here in La Crosse. Slàinte!
