POPULUS / POPULACE: Letters from the Cottonwood | Rivoli Arts Building

Announcing the opening reception for “POPULUS/POPULACE: letters from the cottonwood” – a new photography show by Macedonian artist Srna Dabikj, hosted in the new 2nd floor art gallery of the Rivoli Arts Building in La Crosse, WI.

“POPULUS/POPULACE” follows the story of young Alice who one day left a letter inside the large cottonwood tree in Myrick Park, yearning for community connection in the midst of COVID when social distancing was in full effect. By the time Srna stumbled upon Alice’s letter, she found over a dozen more letters from community members. Discover their stories, see their words, and simmer in their deep love and gratitude for the tree and for each other.

The opening reception will take place on July 3rd from 5pm – 8pm, and the show will be up through the end of August. The gallery is open to the public on Saturdays 11am-4pm and also by appointment.
