La Crosse Local Presents: Cooking with Bao
La Crosse Local Presents: Cooking with Bao

La Crosse County, WI (September 1, 2021):  “Cooking with Bao” a La Crosse based, limited series cooking show, has completed its campaign to help bring awareness and raise funds for the La Crosse area Hmong farmers, meeting its fundraising goal of $6,500+ with the help from business sponsorships, individual donations via a GoFundMe, and the Sabadash App, where people were able to purchase the “Dinner for Six” Sweepstakes.

Money raised through the “Cooking with Bao” fundraiser will be dispersed this weekend at area farmers markets, and go directly to Hmong farmers to help relieve some of the financial impacts from the pandemic, and to offset seasonal costs from seed purchases to farming equipment.

Guest hosts throughout the series included Mario Youakim of Sabadash App, Mayor of La Crosse Mitch Reynolds, Gus Fimple of Aris Global Imports, Josh Dumale of the wildly popular donut business, The Dirty Dozen, and local foodie Abram Dyke of Abe’s Raves.

La Crosse Local, Dylan Overhouse Productions, Mike Makes, and Bao Xiong, founder of the For Independent Hmong Farmers Corp. partnered to produce 12 episodes which are still available on Youtube and the La Crosse Local Facebook page, recipes cards can be found at https://lacrosselocal.com/hmongfarmers.

Business Sponsors included Altra Federal Credit Union, La Crosse County, La Crosse Fireplace Co., Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Sabadash App, Wisconsin Clothing Company, People’s Food Coop, Trust Point, O’Flaherty Law, LLC, The Greater La Crosse Area Diversity Council.

This show has become more than just a fundraiser for Hmong farmers, it’s bringing our community together in so many ways! So, thank you all again for joining my partners and I in making this show such a success! – Bao Xiong, founder of the For Independent Hmong Farmers Corp.
