Movies with a Mission: “Heroin(e)” | La Crosse Public Library

Join us in celebrating cultural heritage and awareness months while deepening our understanding of the issues that affect our community with Movies with a Mission! Each month, we partner with a local nonprofit organization to explore how their work positively impacts our community, followed by a film screening that raises awareness for their mission.
In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, we will be screening the 2017 documentary “Heroin(e).” This Oscar-nominated film follows the stories of three women—a fire chief, a judge, and a street missionary—who are fighting against West Virginia’s devastating opioid epidemic.
The event will open with a proclamation from the Mayor and County Chair for Overdose Awareness, and the Alliance to HEAL will facilitate a Q&A session following the film.
The Alliance to HEAL brings together public, private, nonprofit, and philanthropic organizations in the La Crosse area to enhance the well-being of individuals affected by opioid addiction.
Please register for this event on the Library Website. Walk-ins welcome space permitting.
