Join us in store to meet local Author and UWL Professor Melina Packer, who will discuss her new book Feminism in the Wild: How Human Biases Shape Our Understanding of Animal Behavior. In this groundbreaking work, Packer and co-author Ambika Kamath reveal how biases like sexism, racism, and ableism have shaped the science of animal Behavior. They offer fresh perspectives based on feminist, anti-racist, and queer theories, aiming to break free from oppressive scientific traditions.
Packer will also discuss her book Toxic Sexual Politics, the first feminist and anti-racist critique of toxicology. Drawing on in-depth research, she reveals how toxicology’s origins in alignment with the chemical industry have perpetuated environmental injustices. Packer Argues for a re-imagining of toxicology to confront environmental and reproductive harm.
