Join us in store for an inspiring event with local author and cancer expert, Karen Dahl! Karen will be sharing the story behind her powerful memoir, a work that began with her mother’s writings about her experiences as both a nurse and a cancer patient. Though her mother was unable to complete it, Karen took up the mantle 40 years later, bringing the story to its moving conclusion.
About the book: Until January 1981 Sandra has a typical life as a nurse, wife, and mother. In an instant Sandra’s world is unraveled as she is forced to battle a brain tumor and the consequences of this life-altering diagnosis. Even though Sandra’s mind is filled with fear, Sandra remains tied to the hope that her disease is curable. Decades later Sandra’s daughter Karen, a now cancer expert, finishes Sandra’s story. Sandra and Karen weave together promise of hope and improved care for patients and families facing cancer.
