The Stop and Listen comes to Leo & Leonas for the first time! A Madison, Wisconsin-based old-time string band, the Stop and Listen brings high-energy performances rooted in America’s rich traditional music. Drawing from a deep repertoire of fiddle tunes, jug band songs, country blues, and string band standards, they bring a driving rhythm, tight ensemble playing, extraordinary improvisation and close harmony singing with an expanded sonic palette that gives familiar traditions a distinctive voice.

Fronted by cellist and fiddler Daniel Plane and harmonica player Calvin Woodring, the band brings an uncommon texture to old-time music. With Adam Helt-Baldwin on bass and guitar, and Mike Tiboris on banjo, the result is music that feels deeply rooted in tradition while remaining vibrant, dynamic, and unmistakably their own.

Their shows balance the raw energy of old-time string bands from the 20s and 30s with the precision of seasoned ensemble musicians.
