Beading is Medicine Class | Pump House Regional Arts Center

Join us for an immersive beading workshop that explores beadwork as more than art — it’s medicine.
Melissa Baca, B.S.- Artist & Cultural Educator is a Native artist based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, specializing in traditional beadwork and cultural education. Her workshops are designed not only to teach the techniques of beading, but also to share the history, symbolism, and cultural relevance behind the practice.
Together, we will trace its history, honor its role in cultural resilience, and experience the healing power of creating with our hands. This is a space for learning, storytelling, and reclamation of traditions once threatened by colonization. All materials provided, and all skill levels are welcome.
